Artisan bakers, producers, and growers of all that is best in fresh and wholesome food, including craft beers, pint anyone?
What’s not to love about Norfolk?
WI members, great bakers, accomplished artists and musicians, artistic flower arrangers and skilful at all things requiring a needle. Campaigners for good and unafraid to navigate new technology. And they make a good cup of tea, cuppa anyone?
What’s not to love about the WI.
I feel extremely fortunate to live in our beautiful county of Norfolk, and proud to be a member of the WI, it has an amazing history but is still relevant in today’s world.
My photographs, taken in a house, albeit miniature, within my home, represent some of the skills associated with the WI.
As the saying goes – Home is where the heart is.

This is why, says Kim Salmon, Secretary Mundesley WI
Since lockdown, we have counted ourselves very fortunate to live in the beautiful village of Mundesley. We have benefitted so much from being able to walk in the nearly deserted surrounding countryside and along the beach, normally enjoyed by many visitors, but more importantly we are also blessed to know it on a personal level as a warm welcoming place, we are lucky enough to call home.
To try and achieve something positive from lockdown I signed up for an online watercolour course, which I have really loved. I wanted to see if I could paint something to include # WI Norfolk symbol, and a pot of lavender seemed to be the answer!

This is why, says Jayne Potter, Mundesley WI
Here, in Mundesley village centre, is where I help look after the flower tubs and bicycle with the community gardeners. I buy flowers from The Flower Shoppe for my arrangements at All Saints and volunteer in the MVLI charity shop. Following a recent illness, Country Pickings, the butchers and post office were kind enough to deliver to me. They all make Mundesley a special place to live.
I made this sign using an old pillowcase and felt from our local
haberdashery shop, a gem for all things crafty and I am wearing a dress from Jupe, another village favourite.
I love Mundesley for it’s sense of community and the lovely little independent shops with their kind and friendly staff.

Mundesley – My Favourite Place.
I can relax and listen to the sea, wind and watching the seagulls gliding past.
When the tide is low it is nice just to paddle on the shoreline feeling the cool salty water brush against my toes and caressing my feet.
I also like looking for that special shell or stone that just draws your attention, wondering what its history is.
The base is wooden, made from an old door. Firstly it was whitewashed then the design was drawn and the picture painted. The wording was made from BBQ cocktail sticks attached with gorilla glue. Dried daisies were used to decorate the wording. The heart was cut from an old birthday card and the fencing was made from cocktail sticks topped with brown wool. Tiny seashells were glued on the beach area. Dried weed attached to sea wall representing seaweed. Spot the crab on the beach laughing because the crab boat is approaching the shore with its catch and he isn’t on it.
